Quilted Fair Isle Pillow Is Easier Than It Looks
Stunning Christmas Decor, With or Without the Matching Quilt!
Are you looking for a quick quilting project that makes a statement? This Fair Isle Pillow is exactly that. The bold colors would look great on your sofa or favorite chair during the holidays. Or, vary the colors to fit your decor and use your pillow year around.
If you’re feeling ambitious, the companion quilt is generously sized at 72″ x 77″. It would look great draped over the back of the couch, handy for snuggling on cool December evenings. Or, pair it with the pillow for post-shopping naps!
Both of these projects were designed by Lee at FreshlyPieced.com.
Information about obtaining the quilt pattern can be found here.
A comprehensive tutorial for making the pillow can be found on WeAllSew.com.
The designer used a interesting method for constructing the pillow. It’s not constructed inside out, as you might expect it to be. That red trim around the edges is actually binding, like a quilt, which simplifies the construction.
If pillows aren’t your thing, consider finishing off the pillow front into a mini wall quilt or accent for the center of your table. In that case, you may want to quilt the mini quilt by hand, or machine quilt a more elegant pattern than the stipple quilting specified in the tutorial.
However you choose to finish off your pillow block, it’s sure to provide a welcome spark of color wherever, and whenever you display it!
