A Beautiful Quilt for Fabric Too Pretty to Cut

It’s a Super Easy Variation of an Irish Chain!

This beautiful quilt is so easy to make and it’s great for showing off a favorite fabric line. One repeated block creates the red chain that surrounds 10″ layer cake squares.

If you’re not a fan of red, or it won’t go well with your layer cake squares, go ahead and use another accent color. Whether you set it off with white or another color the results are sure to be wonderful.

The block is done with strip piecing, making it super easy to put several together in a short period of time. This is a great project whenever you have a layer cake you don’t want to cut up and need a large quilt quickly.

Watch as Jenny Doan from the Missouri Star Quilt Co. demonstrates how the quilt goes together in the following video.

You’ll find a transcript of the video here.

The finished quilt is 101″ x 101″. Fewer blocks will make a smaller quilt.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
