Make One for Yourself and Several to Give!
This charming little ornament is perfect for anyone who sews and for those who appreciate handmade things. It’s super simple to make with felt, glue and a bit of hand embroidery.
It’s so simple, in fact, that you can have several made in an afternoon. They’ll be lovely on the tree, decorating packages and given to quilting and sewing friends as gifts.
The original pattern shows the sewing machine with a cute little elf’s hat. However, Joan from Winging It made a tiny quilt for her machine.
While she did not provide instructions, it won’t be hard to do on your own. You might give the hat version to sewing friends and the quilt version to quilters.
The finished ornament, designed by Betz White, is 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ x 1/4″ without the hanger.
Betz has several other darling ornament patterns made from felt. Here are some of our favorites. Click the title under each to learn more.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
