Colorful beach huts adorn a throw pillow and wall hanging designed for summer. The festive design instantly brings to mind sun and fun-filled days at the beach.
Whether you make the pillow or wall hanging, this is a wonderful project for scraps and fun to make. Fusible appliqué means it’s doable by quilters of most skill levels.
Sew down the raw edges and create details using free-motion stitching, straight stitching, or a decorative stitch such as a blanket stitch.
Striped fabrics lend a festive air while sky and water prints are perfect for the scene. Seashells, flags, rugs, and other details make the design even more fun and interesting.
The completed projects designed by Helen Newton are:
- Mini Quilt (or wall hanging) – approximately 23″ square
- Pillow – about 18″ square
Both can easily be enlarged by increasing the borders.
