There are Instructions for Coasters, Too!
This whimsical mug rug will brighten your home during the grayest days. It’s just big enough for a mug and a treat on the side, perfect for keeping near your desk or handy in the kitchen.
Stitch one together in next to no time. Fusible applique makes for a quick project that can be put together from colorful scraps.
It also makes a wonderful last-minute gift any time of the year. Give one to someone you appreciate, for any occasion or just because.
The pattern, from The Patchsmith, can be adapted for both a 5″ coaster made from a charm square and a 6″ butterfly block for use in a quilt or other project. There are examples of coasters below and blocks above.
The mug rug, before quilting, is 9.5″ x 5″ and the unfinished butterfly block is 6.5″.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you! PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
