Create a Caddy for Your Favorite Mini Iron

It’s Both Pretty and Practical!

Choose fabric you love for an attractive carrier for your mini iron. It’s perfect for classes, retreats, sewing days and travel.

The caddy fits most mini irons, like the ever-popular Steamfast (you’ll find other mini iron choices here). It’s also a quick project you’ll have done before you know it.

Just keep in mind that the carrier is NOT heatproof. But, you can easily make it so and use it as a pressing pad when open flat. That also allows you to pack the iron while it’s still warm.

For a heat-proof version, substitute Insul-Bright for the batting and use silver ironing board fabric for the inside of the caddy. Before sewing the layers together test the heat-proofing qualities to see how warm the surface underneath becomes.

You may find that you won’t want to use your caddy as a pressing mat on some surfaces, like a cutting mat or a fine wooden table. Or, add another layer of batting or Insul-Bright for additional heatproofing.

The caddy was designed by Teresa Weaver from Grateful4joyNpeace.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
