The Top Makes a Lovely Runner Too!

This beautiful throw pillow is a great project for your favorite red, white, and blue scraps or leftover 5″ charm squares. Or make it up in colors to match a quilt and enjoy it any time of the year. It will also be lovely in Christmas colors and prints for other seasons.

The pillow top can also be finished as a table runner. It’s simple to add more stars and lengthen the borders if you prefer a longer runner.

Choose a nice combination of prints for the scrappy piano key borders. Or make the classic version with a plain border by substituting bands of fabric.

Simply Starry Pillow Pattern

The designer used Robert Kaufman’s Essex Linen in White and Essex Yarn Dyed Linen in Nautical for the band of stars. Made of 55% linen and 45% cotton, these fabrics are wonderfully soft and have a lovely texture and casual look. Plus straight line quilting in contrasting thread works nicely with them. Essex Yarn Dyed Flax Linen was used for the stars and borders in the simpler version.

Once completed, the pillow designed by Taunja Kelvington from Carried Away Quilting, is 14 ½” x 20 ½”.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
