It’s Reversible and Pretty on the Table Too!

Protect hands and surfaces from hot casserole dishes with this reversible cozy. It will also help to keep food warm and is a pretty accent for the table.

Extra length on the ends allows the cozy to fold around the handles of the dish. That means you can transport the hot casserole without potholders. Nice!

The cozy is designed to fit a 9″ x 13″ dish or pan that holds 3 quarts. Check those dimensions against your dish, keeping in mind that for a slightly larger pan you may need to alter the design to make the “handles” longer.

Cotton, poly, and cotton/poly battings will work unless you plan to use the cozy in the microwave. In that case, the batting needs to be 100% cotton. Pellon Wrap N Zap is a good choice (get it here). Otherwise, add a layer of Insul Bright to the batting for extra insulation (but don’t use it in the microwave!).

Since the cozy is reversible, choose two coordinating fabrics. Fat quarters will work nicely. Or use a 1/2 yard cut if you want both sides to be the same.

To make the cozy, you will need to measure and draw in sewing lines for darts. This is explained clearly in the tutorial. However, a printed pattern is available to purchase.

The cozy was designed by Ina from Crafty for Home.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
