It’s Great in Quilts for Any Season!
This beautiful star block will be wonderful in a Christmas or winter quilt, either on its own or combined with other types of blocks. We can easily imagine it in quilts for other seasons as well, since it will be pretty in any color theme and even tipped on point for a totally different look.
Choose between two sizes and have fun working the block into your own unique quilt design. Or add borders to the small block and finish it as a potholder or hot pad. Several of the larger version will be lovely sewn end to end with sashing in between for a table runner.
Standard piecing is used to construct the block, making it doable for all skill levels. As always, accurate cutting and piecing will produce the best results.
Block by Camille.
Instructions are provided by the designer, Sandra Healy, for both 12″ and 6″ square blocks.
Sandra designed the Star block to go with her series of Nativity blocks. You can purchase the Nativity block bundle here (which includes the Star block pattern for two sizes).
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
