One Simple Block Offers Many Options

Play with Color and Value Placement and Make it Yours!
Strip piecing and creative trimming make the Broken Herringbone a simple block to construct. Make as many of the 12″ blocks as you need to achieve the size quilt you want.
The block looks great in many color combinations. Lorna, of Sew Fresh Quilts chose a lovely combination of cool pastels framed in green.
Lee of Freshly Pieced chose crayon colors for a colorful baby quilt.
The block can easily be altered into a long strip, as Lorna did with here lovely Christmas runner. Her runner went together in a day. Learn how she did it here.
We can easily imagine a quilt with several strips like Lorna’s runner with sashing between them.
The block tutorial, from Anne of PlayCrafts, will get you started on your project using this versatile block.

I loved the pattern called Broken Herringbone, thank you for your pattern.
The Herringbone quilt is amazing.
I’ve always wanted to make a braid quilt. Love the separation of strips. Thank you so much for sharing your pattern!
