Use Up Leftover Strips in This Lovely Quilt!

Jelly roll strips (2 1/2″) make cutting go quickly for this beautiful quilt. Choose a wide variety of fabrics for a wonderful scrappy look. Florals, plaids, dots and stripes are almost magically transformed into a lovely rendition of an “Irish Chain”.

Choose subdued fabrics or bright ones, in your favorite colors or in a coordinated combination. This is a good quilt to use up leftover strips on so keep that in mind as you’re selecting fabrics.

Bandana Chain Quilt Pattern

The accompanying video shows how to quickly make the center patches (25-patches) with strip sets. This is an easy pattern, provided you can cut accurately and sew a consistent 1/4″ seam. Experienced quilters will find this to be a nice project for helping a beginning quilter to learn on.

The finished quilt, by designer Diane Tomlinson, is 70″ x 90″. Adjust the size by adding or deleting rows of blocks.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
