It’s All Done with Straight Seams!
This modern take on a classic pattern is an eye-catching quilt with the illusion of curves. Basic nine-patch blocks are modified to create the effect with straight seams and no curved piecing.
Solid fabrics in a variety of colors are simply stunning in this quilt. Prints are also great, while creating a softer look. The following version made by the designer shows how striking the quilt is in solids.
Play with colors, fabric styles and backgrounds to create your own eye-catching quilt. Look what happens when the background is changed from white to black. It’s simply stunning.
The following quilt, from Hyacinth, was made with prints. The variety gives it a charming scrappy look.
Tracey, from TraceyJay Quilts, made an even scrappier version. Low-volume prints add interest to the background and soften the overall look. She created her own pattern but it’s very similar to the others.
The finished quilt, designed by Lee Heinrich from Freshly Pieced, is 60″ x 60″.
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
