Make Several to Have on Hand for Last Minute Gifts!

Linen embellished with applique and embroidery becomes beautiful ornaments. Display them on the tree, together in a bowl or use them to decorate wrapped gifts. They’re also great for stockings, tucked in with baked goods and included in baskets of goodies.

Any quilting fabric can be substituted for the linen, if you prefer. You may already have a nice combination in your stash.

Heartfelt Ornaments Pattern

Cut the heart shapes, add the fusible applique shapes and embellish with hand embroidery. Blanket stitches, running stitches and french knots are all simple to do. You might also experiment with doing some or all of the embroidery on your machine.

The relaxed shapes come from under-stuffing them a bit. Add more stuffing for more firm and precisely shaped ornaments.

Once completed, the ornaments designed by Lina Nikols are approximately 4″ x 5″. The pattern comes from American Patchwork & Quilting.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
