Not Only is it Flatter it Will Wear Better at the Corners!

Traditional double-fold bindings are great because two layers of fabric protect the outside edges of the quilts. But, they’re notoriously bulky, especially at the corners.

Edyta Sitar learned another method from her husband’s Grandmother that reduces the bulk by a quarter. It lays nice and flat and there are just 6 layers in the corners instead of eight.

That may not seem like a lot but the binding will lay more nicely and the corners will look and feel substantially better.

Plus, this method saves fabric. Edyta starts with binding fabric cut 1 3/4″ wide instead of 2 1/2″. Watch how she does the binding in the following video.

In the video Edyta mentions using the Binding Tool for connecting the ends of the binding. Learn more about how to use the tool in our article, “Connect Binding Ends Perfectly Every Time“.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
