Sew a Dolphin Heating Pad or Neck Pillow from Old Jeans

It Also Makes a Cute Child’s Toy!
Upcycle a pair of jeans into a delightful stuffed dolphin. Fill it with rice or grain for a microwaveable heating pad for your neck and shoulders, or put it in the freezer for a cooling pad during hot weather.
You can also stuff the dolphin with polyfill for a neck pillow, a child’s toy, or a travel pillow. The instructions explain the different fillings and the corresponding sewing variations.
Heating pad variation.
The front of the dolphin is made from an old pair of jeans, canvas, or another sturdy fabric. The back of the heating pad and neck warmer is made from plush fabric such as fleece or terry cloth. A child’s toy and the travel pillow variation can be made with cotton prints.
Thicker neck pillow.
Travel pillow variation.
Designer Ute Jensen from JotDot Shop provides thorough instructions for 3 variations. The charming dolphin is 14″ x 13″. The heating pad variation is 1.2″ tall and the neck pillow is thicker at about 2.8″ tall.
