Give It A Try On Other Marker Lines As Well!

Have you ever washed a new quilt only to discover that not all the blue markings washed out? Soluble blue marker lines usually disappear on contact with water – until they don’t. Then what to do?

If this happens to your quilt, consider the solution Susan from QuiltFabrication found – Dawn dish washing detergent. She details her process for removing lines in her article, which also explains what she tried that didn’t work.

After using a 50% solution of Dawn and water.

Susan used Dawn two ways, as a spot cleaner and for soaking the entire quilt. For spots she used a solution of 50% Dawn and 50% water. Since she didn’t get all the spots she went on to soak the quilt in a bathtub with 3-4 inches of water and 1/4 cup of Dawn. Both solutions worked.

We can’t help but wonder if Dawn would also work to remove other types of stubborn markings. It’s worth a try!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
