Make One For Yourself and One to Give!
This generously sized tote bag will be lovely made up in your favorite colors. The pleat on each side adds just the right decorative touch without making it fussy to construct. You’ll love having this to grab next time you head out the door.
In fact, since this is such an easy project, you may want to make more than one. It’s a thoughtful gift for just about anyone. Or, make one for the house and one for the car or office. That way you’ll always have a tote when you need one.
Start with five-inch charm squares or dig into your stash and pull out scraps. Play with color and stitch up a version you love. There are no rules here. Go scrappy or coordinate the colors, bright or subdued, sophisticated or casual. Just have fun with this project. Before you know it you’ll have a tote you’ll be proud to use.
The finished bag, designed by Joanna Figueroa of Fig Tree & Co., is 17 1⁄2″ × 13 1⁄2″ × 4″ (without the handle).
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
