Make a Beautiful Fabric Tray from Old Jeans
Small Cuts of Denim Yardage Will Also Work!
Turn old jeans into a beautiful denim tray that can be used just about anywhere around the home. It also makes a lovely gift for someone special.
While most of the tray is made from blue denim, you may need to hunt a bit to find the variety of colors used in the pieced band (although it will be great made up in just variations of blue). Check thrift stores for differently colored jeans or purchase small amounts of denim at the fabric store.
You could also fuse squares of quilting cotton to lighter-weight denim for a colorful band. We’d sew a few lines of straight stitching horizontally across the pieced band to ensure that the layers stay flatly together over time.
A colorful patchwork “cheater” fabric was used for the lining. Choose fabric in whatever style and colors look best with your tray
While no written instructions are provided, a detailed video walks you through every step of making the tray.
Once completed, the tray from Wandee Easy Sewing is 4″ H x 10″ W.
