Create Easy 3D Applique Shapes from Any Fabric
Perfect for Fussy Cut Motifs!
While any fabric, solid or print, can be used for 3D applique, this works especially well for fussy cut motifs. In the examples, butterflies were cut from fabric and used to adorn several projects.
You can easily do the same with whatever motifs you wish to showcase. The 3D pieces are simple to make and can be used just about anywhere.
Sarah and Nikki of Sariella have created an excellent tutorial. Once they’ve outlined the process, they go on to show several creative projects using 3D butterflies.
To create your own 3D shapes you’ll need Pellon 809 Decor-Bond and Fray Block by June Tailor (other no-fray products don’t give the same effect).
You’re sure to find some great ideas here for whatever 3D motifs you care to create. In fact, we bet this will have you looking at fabric in a whole new way!
